- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (one packet)
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- For the Sauce:
- 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Toppings:
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup sliced pepperoni or your favorite deli meat
- 1 small bell pepper, thinly sliced
- ½ cup sliced black olives
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil, stir until dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 7-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1-1.5 hours until doubled.
- Make the Sauce: Heat olive oil in saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté 30 seconds.
- Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes, stir occasionally, then remove from heat.
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Heat pizza stone if using.
- Roll dough into 12-inch circle on floured surface. Transfer to parchment paper.
- Spread sauce over dough, leaving ½-inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly.
- Top with pepperoni, bell pepper slices, and black olives.
- Transfer pizza with parchment to oven or pizza stone.
- Bake 12-15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and browned.
- Remove from oven. Garnish with basil leaves. Let cool before slicing.

- Use warm water (not hot) to activate the yeast without killing it.
- You can make dough ahead and refrigerate overnight.
