    • 1 small bell pepper, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil, stir until dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 7-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1-1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. Make the Sauce: Heat olive oil in saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté 30 seconds.
  6. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes, stir occasionally, then remove from heat.
  7. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Heat pizza stone if using.
  8. Roll dough into 12-inch circle on floured surface. Transfer to parchment paper.
  9. Spread sauce over dough, leaving ½-inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly.
  10. Top with pepperoni, bell pepper slices, and black olives.
  11. Transfer pizza with parchment to oven or pizza stone.
  12. Bake 12-15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and browned.
  13. Remove from oven. Garnish with basil leaves. Let cool before slicing.
