Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water carefully until just combined; batter will be thin.
  5. Divide batter evenly between pans and tap to release air bubbles.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Test with a toothpick; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

  11. Spread ganache on one cake layer, top with second layer, then cover entire cake with remaining ganache.
